We have our semi-annual shredding / food drive event coming up next month.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there doing some good in our neighborhood.
The Palm Valley Rotary Club had a fun night out at the Alhambra Theater on September 22nd enjoying The Sound of Music.
US Army COL J.C. White joined the club on Zoom to talk about his experiences overseeing training for the Saudi Arabian National Guard.  The National Guard moniker may be deceiving, as the force is a strong standing force of  125,000 serving to protect the borders as well as an internal security force.  COL White relayed his experiences in Saudi, the strategic importance of our Saudi partners and answered questions from the club.
Horton Hickerson (Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Palm Valley) inducting our newest member, Dave Gleason.  Even before becoming a member, Dave has been active in helping the Club find a new home and coordinating some of our activities.  Looking forward to Dave contributing to the Club and continuing to live our motto of "Service Above Self".
Cyndi King, our Vocational Services Chair, gave an impassioned talk about the importance of vocational services in our clubs and in our communities.
As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action? Consider these suggestions:
  • Talk about your vocation in your club, and take time to learn about fellow members’ vocations.
  • Use your professional skills to serve a community.
  • Practice your profession with integrity, and inspire others to behave ethically through your own words and actions.
  • Help a young person achieve his or her career aspirations.
  • Guide and encourage others in their professional development.
The Rotary Club of Palm Valley contributed to the good work the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra (Nocatee) has been doing with feeding our front line workers in the fight against Covid.  As you know, our area is suffering a Covid surge, and some of the nurses at Baptist are working double and even triple shifts to cover. "Feed the Frontline" is an attempt to give these folks a free, warm meal (or two) while they work to save lives. If you'd like to donate, please make checks payable to Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra with a "Feed the Frontline" in the memo to:
