STOP HUNGER NOW

What a fantastic event this past Saturday as our club joined forces with Fletcher High School's Interact club as well as the Oceanside Rotary Club to assist in packing meals for Stop Hunger Now.  Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. The organization is driven by a vision of a world without hunger and a mission to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-saving aid to the world's most vulnerable and by creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

Stop Hunger Now’s meal packaging program provides volunteers the opportunity to package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals that are used in crisis situations and in school feeding programs for schools and orphanages in developing countries around the world.

As volunteers, we packaged the meals in teams of five then handed them off to be measured, sealed, and then handed back off to the Stop Hunger Now organization.  This event allowed Interact Club members from several different high schools and Rotarians to work side by side, and truly live the motto "Service Above Self".   In this year's event we put together over 20,000 meals for these impoverished nations.
