Rotary Year 2010 - 2011 Recap

During Jeff Hart’s year as president, we all enjoyed his capable and high quality leadership.  He kept so many balls in the air at once that it will be tough to fill his place.  Nothing failed to get done thanks to his “attention to detail.”  And we grew to count on him so much, perhaps too much, taking advantage of his willingness to take on any job that needed doing.  He was an outstanding president!   Under his care, our club:

·         Sponsored 1 RYE outbound

·         Sponsored 1 RYLA student

·         Hosted 2 RYE inbound students

·         Inducted 2 new members (Angus Stephens and Dave Howie)

·         Completed a successful, school-year-long “Reads Aloud” program

·         Supported 2 international service projects (Guana Water Tanks and Philippines Microloans)

·         Held 2 separate fund-raisers (All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Feast and 3^rd Annual Plant Sale & Festival)

·         Attended 2 networking fellowship events with other beach clubs, at Engine 15 and Coppertop Restaurant

·         Participated in the Salvation Army’s Kettle Drive

·         Raised more than $1,800 happy dollars

·         Held a successful blood drive

·         Received the Presidential Citation with Distinction Award

·         Participated in multiple fellowship events (Jacksonville Suns, picnic at Saw Mill Lakes, Rotary-Jags Game Day)

·         Threw our 5^th Annual St. Johns Foster Children’s Christmas Party

·         Volunteered for 2 “hands on” service projects:  Habijax (that was fun!) and St. Andrews Lighthouse (also fun!)

·         Completed many, many monthly service projects

·         Toys for Wolfson’s Hospital’s young patients at Christmas

·         School supplies for St. Johns County Education Foundation

·         Toiletries for Mission House

·         Bridge Clean-up (several times)

·         International Coastal Clean-Up

·         Child Protection Team clothing for at-risk children

·         Food and supplies for the families assisted by B.E.A.M.
